You Don’t Need More Information. You Need a Better Sounding Board.

As an entrepreneur, you are the final decision-maker on everything. It’s a lonely position. You can read all the books and take all the courses, but sometimes what you really need is a trusted group of peers to say, “Have you thought about it this way?”

This is the power of a mastermind group.

A mastermind is not a networking event or a coaching program. It’s a small, curated group of individuals at a similar stage in business who meet regularly with one goal: to help each other succeed. It is a confidential, supportive, and honest space to troubleshoot your challenges and get objective feedback from people who understand the journey.

In a mastermind, you get:

  • Accountability: You’re more likely to achieve your goals when you declare them out loud to a group that will be checking in.
  • Diverse Perspectives: You get to “borrow the brains” of your fellow members, seeing problems and opportunities from angles you would have never considered.
  • Community: It’s the ultimate cure for entrepreneurial loneliness. It’s your personal board of directors, your brainstorming partners, and your cheerleading squad, all in one.

You don’t have to have all the answers. But you should have a room full of people who are committed to helping you find them.

Actionable Nurturing Step: Think of 2-3 other business owners you admire who are at a similar stage as you. Reach out to one of them this week and simply ask, “Would you be open to a virtual coffee to chat about what we’re each working on?” That’s how it starts.

  1. Mastermind groups have been really helpful for me in the past! I’ve also started doing dyad swaps where we each give the other 30 minutes as a sounding board/coach, and that is really helpful!
