As a business owner I know the importance of using social media to get my message out and connecting with my audience.  However, there is a lot of negative energy out there on many platforms.  Ungodly comments in the form of hate, shaming or just pure evil.  This behavior can turn you off quickly to wanting to put yourself out there.  Since, I didn’t want this to stop me from getting the message God has given me out there I have found 7 key scriptures to help me decide who to engage with and how I will engage with people on social media.  Let’s take a closure look at them:

Colossians 3:16

Let the teaching of Christ and His words keep on living in you. These make your lives rich and full of wisdom. Keep on teaching and helping each other. Sing the Songs of David and the church songs and the songs of heaven with hearts full of thanks to God.

Romans 12:2

Do not act like the sinful people of the world. Let God change your life. First of all, let Him give you a new mind. Then you will know what God wants you to do. And the things you do will be good and pleasing and perfect.

John 3:30

He must become more important. I must become less important.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

So comfort each other and make each other strong as you are already doing.

Romans 14:19

Work for the things that make peace and help each other become stronger Christians.

Proverbs 18:13

If one gives an answer before he hears, it makes him foolish and ashamed.

Galatians 5:16

I say this to you: Let the Holy Spirit lead you in each step. Then you will not please your sinful old selves.

Keeping this scriptures near and dear to my hear has made a difference in my desire to want to interact on social media.  It has helped me to steer away from those not Godly in there tongue and to develop deeper relationships with those I do interact with.  How to do you manage the maze of social media?  Do you have a favorite scripture that helps you through the murky waters?  Let me know what it is.  You can find me on Twitter @kgaskinsconsult.  Look forward to hearing from you.
