Are You Building a Business or a Burnout Machine?

Hello. I see you.

I see the endless to-do list and that quiet, persistent hum of anxiety that follows you around. You started this for freedom, for impact, but lately, does it feel like the business is running you?

If you’re nodding along, take a deep breath. You are not alone, and you are not failing. You are experiencing entrepreneur burnout, a common side effect of a culture that glorifies the hustle.

What if there was another way?

Imagine a business that feels spacious. One that nurtures you—your health, your mind, your spirit—as much as you nurture it. This isn’t a fantasy. It’s a choice. And it’s the choice we’re going to start making together, right now. This series is your permission slip to stop, breathe, and rebuild from a place of intention, not obligation.

Your vision is the starting line. Before implementing strategies and systems, you must have a clear and compelling reason why this matters. Not the polished mission statement on your website, but the real, human reason you get out of bed in the morning.

So, what is the vision for your life that this business is meant to support?

Don’t think about what you should want. Think about what you truly desire. A life with more presence? A business with more profit and less stress? The freedom to log off at 3 PM to pick up your kids from school?

Please write it down. This vision is your anchor. It’s the compass that will guide every decision you make from this day forward. It’s the first, most crucial step in building a business that finally feels like your own.

Actionable Nurturing Step: Find 10 quiet minutes. Close your eyes and ask yourself: “What is the vision for the life I truly want to live?” Write down whatever comes up without judgment.

  1. I was lucky enough to be able to work from home for over 25 years, long before it was fashionable and Covid made it necessary. I always said I had my dream job because I was a transcriptionist and could work at any hour of the day or night, in my pajamas and no one would know.

  2. Janet, being able to work from home is definitely a blessing. Working from home is one of the things I love about having my coaching business.
